Frequently Asked Questions:
What are your fees?
-
$250 for a 50-minute individual therapy session
-
$280 for a 60-minute session couples therapy session
Do you accept insurance?
-
I am currently paneled with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross of California, Optum, & United Healthcare
-
We can also submit a superbill if I am out of network with your insurance. Often, your insurance will offer a partial reimbursement
Do you offer sliding scale?
-
Yes, I reserve a small number of spots for sliding scale. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are in need, and we can discuss what is available and feasible.
How do I get started?
-
Please feel free to reach out via email, call, or text, if you are interested in getting started and have any questions
-
Occassionally, we can do a brief 10-minute phone call to see if it would be a good fit to work together (e.g. perhaps you need more specialized support that I do not offer at this time)
-
However, we won't actually know if it's a good fit until we're in the room together for a full session; it's amazing how much more we discover in that time. As such, I offer a reduced rate initial consultation session for both individual and couples work. Reach out if you would like to know more.
Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
-
I offer in-person sessions in the Larchmont area of Los Angeles, and virtual therapy sessions throughout California
Are you accepting new clients?
-
Yes, I am currently accepting a small number of both couples & individual clients. Please feel free to reach out if you are interested, or if you have any questions
Does starting therapy mean there is something "wrong" with us/me (couple/individual)?
-
Absolutely not. This is something that we can really dive into in the room together, however, it is one of the questions I hear most often when beginning, and as such, I wanted to offer some brief notes on it here:
-
If you are feeling this, you're not alone
-
Oftentimes, we do finally reach out to start this work because our lives or relationships may feel untenable. In those times, this is where we will help you through
-
And, at the same time, you do not ever need a reason to begin this work; therapy is welcome to all and (in my slightly biased opinion) beneficial to everyone. It is also a space to strengthen and be curious about what is working: to deepen your understanding of yourself, your past, your relationships, your drive, all with the help of an experienced and empathetic other (therapist)
-
What is therapy with you like?
-
You/your relationship is unique and, as such, so will be the space that we create together
-
Generally, therapy with me is more organic and exploratory than structured. I invite empathetic curiosity while also at times challenging you to explore things through a different lens; this is how we create deep and lasting change from the inside out
-
Throughout, I will be actively engaged through listening, curiosity, and reflections, all while holding where we've been and where we are, to help you feel free to get to where you hope to go
-
The work can be intense, and yet we also find moments of humor and levity; it is all welcome here
What is your cancellation policy?
-
I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session
-
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice (or no-shows) will be charged the full session fee (even if you typically use insurance)
Is therapy confidential?
-
Yes, therapy is confidential within certain legal and ethical limits. I’ll always be transparent about those boundaries, and we can talk them through in session
-
At the same time, from my perspective, everything you want to explore is not only welcome, it is necessary and important; this is your life
-
One thing to note, if you're using insurance, keep in mind that your provider may receive some information or request information about our work together, all of which we can discuss when we begin
How long will therapy last?
-
The honest answer? We won't know until we're in it. As every person and relationship is unique, so will our time together be. We will discover this together, and it will depend on what we're working on or towards
-
The timeline can range from months to years- not because there is anything "wrong," but because the space is found to be beneficial
What types of mental health and life experiences do you work with?
-
I consider myself a "generalist," working with a broad range of mental health and life experiences
-
I am passionate about and skilled at working with couples; this is a strong focus of my practice
-
While I identify as a "generalist," I have found that individuals struggling with navigating relationships, life transitions, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, women's health, or individuals recovering from narcissistic relationships have often found their way to me
-
At this time, I don’t work with active suicidality, eating disorders, or addiction. If you’re seeking support in those areas, I’d be glad to help connect you with someone who can best meet your needs
"I was in therapy previously, and I don't want to have to repeat myself or re-explain everything"
-
This is another question I hear frequently, let's touch on it:
-
First and foremost, you don't have to. You can start wherever you want to start. I have no agenda, other than helping you to get to where you hope to go. Trust me, what's important will find its way into the room with us
-
Secondly, hopefully your prior therapist helped explain this, but you are not starting all over. All of the work you did in your previous therapy is still with you. That's where we'll start, and it's my job to catch up and meet you there
-
What is your availability?
-
Currently, I am available Monday through Fridays
-
I do not have weekend availability at this time
